Yesterday I finally was able to spend a few hours in the sewing room!  I started working on the Schnibbles Pattern Hot Cross.
I just love this block. I love the way it looks right now, maybe it  just needs to be a little quilt!  Or maybe I need to make it again.  I don't think I will ever tire of red and white quilts.

I went with just 2 colors instead of scrappy!   These are from the Midwinter Reds Line by Minick and Simpson for Moda Fabrics

Here is whats on my cutting table this morning waiting for me to make a few more blocks!
So tell me whats on your cutting table this morning?

thought about this a lot yesterday funny how I really love quilts with hundreds of fabrics in them but 2 color quilts are what I seem to be working on lately….

Have you seen the sunflower quilt on Pinkadot Quilts Blog that Kelly made?  I just love that quilt it will be donated to her quilt guild to raffle off at their quilt show.

hope you find time in your sewing room this week…...

  1. It looks simple to piece but oh so effective. How about another one reversing the colours?

  5. I've been working on your Weaving the Rails pattern from the Aug 2011 American Patchwork magazine. I included a center medallion. It is one of the blocks from Love Letters by Blackbird Designs. Would love to send you a picture, I just can't figure put how to attach it here.

  6. What a coincidence, I just started to write this morning a post for my blog about the beauty of red and beige together! Your blocks are very nice, it will be a gorgeous quilt! I had seen the sunflower quilt of Kelly, love it!

  7. Great little quilt. What always seems to be on my cutting table/ironing board is prep work for appliqué. I did manage to piece a couple of little quilts last week.

  8. Love the Schnibbles quilts! On my cutting table (left over from yesterday being able to spend some time in my sewing room) are piles of fabric choices for the 36 stars I need to make for the next round on my Medallion. Have 9 stars made (might not use some of them.....usually make extras so I will have choices!). Choosing the fabrics and matching the darks/lights is so relaxing and enjoyable and easy to do in the summer heat.

  9. That looks like such a fun pattern -- and it's perfect as a two color quilt. Love the red and white!!!

  10. It is a wonderful little 2-color quilt, but I probably would have to slip another color or two in there. Why do I get so restless working with just two fabrics? I now know I can do 2-color minis if they are scrappy. Maybe I just need the right fabric line, and the one you have used here is a beauty!!

  12. Love the quilt, and those Midwinter Reds really make it sizzle. Might have to break down and get me some of those reds. Nothing on my cutting table today, I'm going downtown to the bookstore for some summer reading material.

  14. I like scrappy because I don't have to make fabric decisions...I am envious that you can pick two fabrics to make something...and it looks FABULOUS! I am always afraid I will pick the wrong two...

  16. My cutting table has the pieces for a Mineral Wells block from "501 Rotary Cut Quilt Blocks" by Judy Hopkins. I am making extra 12-inch blocks to go with some bee-exchange blocks I got last year in my quilting bee. This is a tricky block though, and I've already made one of the pieces too small by sewing the HSTs to the corners instead of the sides! Not sure if I want to just piece extra HST fabric to make the block the right size or redo the block entirely. I hate wasting fabric!

  18. I love the idea that this red and white quilt is predominately red. It gives a totally different look. The midwinter fabrics are an awesome line. On my cutting table...I'm cutting the pieces for a scrappy border.
